Mighty Wanderers have vowed to bounce back in the second leg of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League first preliminary round against Tanzanian giants Simba Sports Club (SC) in Dar es Salaam this Sunday.
The Nomads were left searching their souls after losing the first leg 0-1 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday in a match they created a plethora of chances, but failed to make them count.
In an interview yesterday, Wanderers interim coach McDonald ‘Nginde’ Mtetemera said that although the odds appear stacked against his team after the home defeat, they will do all they can to turn the tables.
He said: “We fashioned a number of good chances, but we couldn’t score and I think that cost us the game. But all is not lost, we have the second leg coming up.
“One of the areas that we have to seriously work on is finishing. We will have to take our chances.”
Mtetemera also said they will prepare their players psychologically to handle the pressure that comes with playing in an intimidating atmosphere away.

“The encouraging thing is that we never showed them [Simba SC] respect. Otherwise, we played well and tactically we were good,” he said.
Wanderers director of football development David Kanyenda said: “Anything is possible in football, we can also win in Dar es Salaam. Our fans shouldn’t despair.
“But we need to score more than once to enhance our prospects.”
On the other hand, Simba SC coach Steve Barker said it was important that they won away.
He said: “One musn’t take anything for granted, an away win is massive whether you win by one goal , it is not easy against a good team.
“They [Wanderers] deserve to be in the Champions League, the crowd was alsointimidating.”
Allain Anicet Oura scored the lone goal in the 64th minute.
